Job Title: Sewing Machinist
Job type: Permanent Contract
Ben Whistler design and manufacture a wide range of high quality custom furniture using both modern and traditional techniques. We are a forward thinking company, continually evolving in the pursuit of excellent quality and customer service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Sewing large range various fabric materials such as leathers, velvets etc in to cushions and upholstery.
Work to the specification for the relevant model of furniture and ensure quality of sewn work meets the Ben Whistler set standards
Using a range of trimmings and finishing’s including buttons, facings, piping and decorative studs.
Experience with silk, saddle stitch, top stitch, curtains, single and double piping, quilting.
Use a range of hand tools including scissors, shears, staple lifter
Cutting materials with templates
Working on Sewing Machines and Cutting Machines
Good housekeeping and general labouring duties
Good organisation workloads ready production
Working as part of a team on piece work production or working independently, using your own initiative.
. Undertake other duties of a reasonable nature, as may be determined by the post-holder’s supervisor.
. Carry out all duties in accordance with the company’s health & safety policy.

Workshop staff work 45 over 5 days from Monday to Friday, although we can also offer a 4 day 38 hour contract.
