To chew the cud, put the world to rights and generally talk about the state of our industry and how we can get the best out of it.
Bert Chapman MBE has agreed to give us a talk on the cutting and hanging of well dressed drapery, looking at modern and historic examples. They say that what goes around comes around and although swags and tails are not currently in vogue, now is the time to get yourself prepared for when they do come back into fashion.

SATRA furniture flammability seminars scheduled for 2009 and 2010
SATRA Technology Centre has scheduled more of its popular furniture flammability seminars for the end of 2009 and into 2010.
Each seminar covers the essential flammability requirements of the UK based legislation relating to upholstered furniture and beds. With the UK government promising to put more effort into enforcing the 1988 regulations, it will be essential for anyone in the furniture supply chain to understand the implications of them.
Delegates will receive an understanding of the UK Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations. It will cover the requirements in the domestic sector for furniture and the materials used to make it including covers, interliners, foams, and other fillings such as polyester fibre, feathers etc. Relating to all type! s of furniture including various types of seating, cushions, bean bags, headboards, mattresses and bed bases, the seminar is equally applicable to materials suppliers, furniture manufacturers and retailers.
Seminars are scheduled for 26th November 2009, 21st January 2010, 25th March, 20th May, 22nd July, 30th September and 25th November. All these events will be held at The SATRA Technology Centre in Kettering.
Companies wishing to sell into the UK market will find the seminar beneficial in providing a solid grounding in the subject. Recently, there have been a number of cases that raise concerns regarding the amount and frequency of testing, the value of supplier’s certificates and role of record keeping. This seminar course is designed to address these aspects and tackle the questions of what constitutes due diligence.
The seminars are FREE to SATRA members and cost GBP225 (no VAT) to non membe! rs of SATRA.
