Upholsterer – Bovey Tracey, Devon

Kingcome Sofas are a long established and highly regarded maker of luxury upholstered sofas and chairs, handmade in our workshop in Devon, where we employ over forty people.

Our furniture is made to order, for interior designers and private clients worldwide.

We are looking for a new person to join us as an upholsterer, working alongside some of the industry’s most talented trades people.

Upholstery experience is essential, and you will need to have excellent attention to detail and a discerning eye.

We are a friendly company, with many longstanding staff. The culture is more that of a workshop than of a factory. Pay is competitive, and is dependent on your skills and suitability for the role.

Workshop Experience sought – Oxfordshire

I have recently completed the AMUSF Stage 1 Craft Certificate at the British School of Upholstered Furniture and I am keen to gain experience in a commercial upholstery setting. Having been introduced to both traditional and modern upholstery methods on the course I am looking to expand upon my knowledge gained so far. I am an enthusiastic, articulate, adaptable, and have a keen eye for detail.  I am based in north Oxfordshire, however flexible regarding location and working hours, willing to learn and undertake in any relevant training. I have a full, current and clean driving licence and possess my own vehicle. I will be attending the AMUSF Stage 2 Intermediate Craft Certificate one day a week from 6th September therefore looking for flexible work experience to accommodate this. Management Position Available – Help shape the Future of the AMUSF

The AMUSF exists to represent and promote the bespoke upholstery and soft furnishing industry representing over 700 upholsterers, soft furnishers, training centres, students and trade suppliers. Our board of volunteer Directors have created an exciting new five year plan to educate the public, support the trade and grow both our membership and our influence across and beyond the sector.

Due to the planned retirement of our current Association Manager we now need to recruit a special individual willing and capable of working with our willing band of volunteers and small administrative staff to make that vision a reality.

The role involves supporting members, consumers and the Board as well as representing the Association with external bodies, promoting AMUSF membership and qualifications and the day to-day general management of the Association’s affairs.

The key elements within the Directors strategy can be summarised as follows:

  • Improving membership engagement.
  • Growing membership to the whole sector.
  • Expanding training for all – both through our own qualifications and liaison with national training bodies.

The ideal candidate will have first class communication, marketing and management skills, experience as a senior manager in the running of a trade association or business, some background in upholstery, soft furnishings or interiors is desirable but not essential but principally a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

The AMUSF office is based in High Wycombe but the role is a national one so your base location could be flexible. We are also open to the idea of a job share so if you only have part of the skill set it would still be worth talking with us.

Upholsterer, Nr. Penrith Cumbria

We are a small company engaged in a huge variety of work, making bespoke furniture for domestic and commercial use. We re-upholster domestic and commercial furniture using both contemporary and traditional methods. We trim vintage cars, caravans and boats.

P/T Upholsterer – Binfield, Berkshire

A small team of upholsterers who work on commissions from clients. Both traditional and modern techniques. There is now a vacancy for a permanent part-time member of staff to join the team.
The role would be based Binfield/Wokingham and the person would need their own transport as it’s in the country with no public transport. It is for approx. 10 hours per week spread over 3 days – Tues/Weds/Fri from 1000 – 1300 but there is flexibility on this. I would be paying £8.00 per hour through payroll NOT cash in hand. The work is varied and may include everything from stripping chairs to rebuilding (depending on experience), being a presence in shop area, answering queries from clients and deputising for me when I am out with clients. A clean driving license is a must.

Experienced Upholsterer – Islington N. London

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a successful small business located in Islington, North London. We are looking for an individual with experience of running a workshop, cutting and preparing fabrics as well as a solid background in both traditional and modern upholstery. A vacancy exists for a first class upholsterer capable of undertaking antique, traditional and contemporary work. We prefer that the applicant is able to undertake any job through all stages including cutting and sewing cover, cushions and valances.
