Experienced Machinist required – Stansted, Essex.

Experienced machinist (ideally commercial machinist) required for bespoke workshop in small private company based in Stansted Essex.

A manufacturer of cushions for over 30 years for high quality exclusive brands of outdoor furniture has an immediate vacancy for a highly skilled machinist. Prime responsibilities:

Machining a wide variety of high quality fabrics (e.g. Sunbrella) including customers own material for bespoke cushions – scatters / seat pads / back cushions etc.

Ensuring all patterns are matched with boxing / trims and finishing touches completed to the highest standard.

Overlocking and occasional quilting.

Working alongside the other cutting room staff – discussing new patterns / fabric lay out etc.

To occasionally plastic wrap cushions ready for delivery.

This is a permanent position but offering flexible hours Monday to Friday. Generous holiday (subject to working hours) and a parking permit. Salary dependent on experience.

Experienced Upholsterer Required – Fulham, London

Upholstery Sewing Machinist – Farnborough, Hampshire

Inspire Upholstery are looking for an experienced sewing machinist to join our growing production team. The successful candidate will work alongside our upholsterers to develop bespoke furniture and banquette seating.

Experience with working with furniture, leather and walking foot machine would be an advantage. There is the possibility of training if required to adapt existing sewing skills to upholstered furniture.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in using heavy and light sewing machines
  • Have experience in working with a range of materials such as vinyl, leather, fabric and nylon
  • Work alongside upholsterers to develop patterns for bespoke upholstered furniture
  • Be comfortable with project work, taking on a job from start to finish
  • Be a team player – communicating well between all departments
  • Have a high attention to detail – ensuring quality standards are met
  • Understand Health and Safety Requirements – report any issues/dangers/concerns to management
  • Be willing to assist in cutting and preparing of items in all departments

Required experience:

  • Machinist: 3 years
  • Unpicking, pattern making, cutting and finishing: 1 year

  • Competence using the following sewing machines: Long arm and overlocking machine advantageous but not essential

Upholsterer – Farnborough, Hampshire

Inspire Upholstery are looking for an experienced upholsterer to join our busy production team based in Hampshire. We design and create high quality commercial upholstery for hotels, bars and restaurants as well as creating bespoke furniture for residential projects.

We are looking for an upholsterer with an excellent skill and understanding of upholstery techniques (new and traditional) along with an eye for detail and an understanding of how fabrics and frames work.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in a wide range of modern upholstery techniques including: piping, buttoning, studding
  • Have experience in working with a range of materials such as vinyl, leather, fabric and nylon
  • Have accuracy for pattern matching and cutting fabrics
  • Be comfortable with project work, taking on a job from start to finish
  • Be a team player – communicating well between all departments
  • Understand Health and Safety Requirements – report any issues/dangers/concerns to management
  • Be highly motivated with good time management skills.

Required experience:

  • High degree of upholstery skills with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Machinist skills are advantageous but not essential

  • Experience of deep buttoning and traditional upholstery techniques
  • A flexible attitude would be required to working hours as some of our contract work requires on site working with night work, travel and overnight stays.

Upholstery Workshop Manager – Farnborough, Hampshire

Inspire Upholstery are looking for a Workshop Manager to join our busy team based in Hampshire. We design and create high quality commercial upholstery for hotels, bars and restaurants as well as creating bespoke furniture for residential projects.

As an energetic and dynamic person, you will have good reporting and communication skills, exceptional people management and leadership skills along with excellent planning and organising skills and management skills for a multi-cultural workforce. 

You will assist Paul Wright, the Technical Director, to manage the workflow of the team, looking after projects right through the production process to ensure customers receive their furniture on the agreed delivery date, to the correct specification and meeting the highest quality standards.

You will have hands-on experience in cutting and template making and will be responsible alongside the Technical Director and HR Co-ordinator for the motivation and training of the team staff in the upholstery/woodworking/sewing workshops. You will oversee other employees ensuring their understanding of daily duties and their quality of work and have the ability to offer advice and answer any questions relating to their work.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Sewing, cutting, stapling and template making knowledge
  • Framework and polishing
  • The ability to introduce good manufacturing practice
  • Supervise a team craft workers including Upholsterers & Machinists
  • Experience in planning and production scheduling of work orders, delegating, monitoring and controlling the work of the team and ensuring the highest quality control standard is maintained
  • Effective communications and attending regular meetings
  • Dependant on workloads, it may be necessary to help the installation team on-site
  • Maintain workshop equipment (where qualified) and alert management with any issues with faulty equipment and keep management updated on stock levels and production
  • Hands-on experience in cutting and template making

  • Ability to take accurate measurements and work out amounts of materials
