Experienced Upholsterer Required – Fulham, London

Dudgeon Sofas, London Upholsterers for 70 years based in Fulham, specialise in making top quality hand-made sofas and armchairs for residential and commercial properties – from the Four Seasons and Dorchester hotels, to palaces in the Middle East, homes in London and the UK, and custom items for superyachts.

Due to an ever increasing portfolio of projects, we are looking for an experienced upholsterer to join our expanding team.  This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with proven skills and experience to join an established company.

We historically use traditional upholstery methods, with individual double cone coil springs, sprung cane edges and natural fibre stuffing to make the best looking traditional and contemporary furniture.   Recently we have also engaged in more modern methods to create contemporary designs.

Key skills required:

Knowledge of traditional and modern upholstery methods

Knowledge of cutting

Experience of deep buttoning and leather

An Eye for detail

Ability to interpret drawings and sketches

Experienced Upholsterer required – Willesden, London

This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced freelance upholsterer with a proven track record, to join a small, rapidly expanding company based in Willesden Junction. 

KLS Interiors has manufactured and installed high end soft furnishings for the trade for twelve years, and is looking to build on the upholstery side of the business. 

Key Skills Required:

– High degree of upholstery skills with a proven track record of upholstery experience.

– Ability to produce a wide variety of work from pelmets and headboards to re upholstery of traditional sofas, armchairs, dining chairs etc. 

– Experience of deep buttoning and traditional upholstery techniques.

– Possess excellent attention to detail.

– Ability to use own initiative and to work quickly to meet production deadlines.

– Be able to work independently or as part of a team 

– Ability to make loose covers would be an advantage

Upholstery Sewing Machinist – Farnborough, Hampshire

Inspire Upholstery are looking for an experienced sewing machinist to join our growing production team. The successful candidate will work alongside our upholsterers to develop bespoke furniture and banquette seating.

Experience with working with furniture, leather and walking foot machine would be an advantage. There is the possibility of training if required to adapt existing sewing skills to upholstered furniture.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in using heavy and light sewing machines
  • Have experience in working with a range of materials such as vinyl, leather, fabric and nylon
  • Work alongside upholsterers to develop patterns for bespoke upholstered furniture
  • Be comfortable with project work, taking on a job from start to finish
  • Be a team player – communicating well between all departments
  • Have a high attention to detail – ensuring quality standards are met
  • Understand Health and Safety Requirements – report any issues/dangers/concerns to management
  • Be willing to assist in cutting and preparing of items in all departments
  • Be highly motivated with good time management skills.
  • Be a problem-solver establishing the best method of manufacturing for each job

Required experience:

  • Machinist: 3 years
  • Unpicking, pattern making, cutting and finishing: 1 year
  • Using heavy & light sewing machines: 1 year
  • Competence using the following sewing machines: Long arm and overlocking machine advantageous but not essential

Job Type: Full Time.

Working hours 7:30am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday.

40 hours per week, 21 days holiday excluding bank holidays per year.

Upholsterer – Farnborough, Hampshire

Inspire Upholstery are looking for an experienced upholsterer to join our busy production team based in Hampshire. We design and create high quality commercial upholstery for hotels, bars and restaurants as well as creating bespoke furniture for residential projects.

We are looking for an upholsterer with an excellent skill and understanding of upholstery techniques (new and traditional) along with an eye for detail and an understanding of how fabrics and frames work.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in a wide range of modern upholstery techniques including: piping, buttoning, studding
  • Have experience in working with a range of materials such as vinyl, leather, fabric and nylon
  • Have accuracy for pattern matching and cutting fabrics
  • Be comfortable with project work, taking on a job from start to finish
  • Be a team player – communicating well between all departments
  • Understand Health and Safety Requirements – report any issues/dangers/concerns to management
  • Be highly motivated with good time management skills.
  • Maintain work space to highest level
  • Be a problem-solver establishing the best method of manufacturing for each job
  • Produce quick but high-quality upholstery for economic production
  • Work accurately to technical drawings and specifications
  • Be able to work as part of a team or as an individual to produce high quality bespoke upholstery work

Required experience:

  • High degree of upholstery skills with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Machinist skills are advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in measuring and cutting skills
  • Experience of deep buttoning and traditional upholstery techniques
  • A flexible attitude would be required to working hours as some of our contract work requires on site working with night work, travel and overnight stays.

Upholstery Workshop Manager – Farnborough, Hampshire

Inspire Upholstery are looking for a Workshop Manager to join our busy team based in Hampshire. We design and create high quality commercial upholstery for hotels, bars and restaurants as well as creating bespoke furniture for residential projects.

As an energetic and dynamic person, you will have good reporting and communication skills, exceptional people management and leadership skills along with excellent planning and organising skills and management skills for a multi-cultural workforce. 

You will assist Paul Wright, the Technical Director, to manage the workflow of the team, looking after projects right through the production process to ensure customers receive their furniture on the agreed delivery date, to the correct specification and meeting the highest quality standards.

You will have hands-on experience in cutting and template making and will be responsible alongside the Technical Director and HR Co-ordinator for the motivation and training of the team staff in the upholstery/woodworking/sewing workshops. You will oversee other employees ensuring their understanding of daily duties and their quality of work and have the ability to offer advice and answer any questions relating to their work.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Sewing, cutting, stapling and template making knowledge
  • Framework and polishing
  • The ability to introduce good manufacturing practice
  • Supervise a team craft workers including Upholsterers & Machinists
  • Experience in planning and production scheduling of work orders, delegating, monitoring and controlling the work of the team and ensuring the highest quality control standard is maintained
  • Effective communications and attending regular meetings
  • Dependant on workloads, it may be necessary to help the installation team on-site
  • Maintain workshop equipment (where qualified) and alert management with any issues with faulty equipment and keep management updated on stock levels and production
  • Hands-on experience in cutting and template making
  • Understand Health and Safety Requirements
  • Assisting with Risk Assessments
  • Ability to take accurate measurements and work out amounts of materials
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work without supervision
  • Working accurately to technical design drawings & customer specifications

We have a vacancy for a soft furnisher to join our team at The Spinning Jenny. We are located in Warfield near Ascot in lovely countryside at Fernygrove Farm. There is parking on site as well as a lovely cafe situated in beautiful surroundings.

We need someone who is comfortable making items such as; arm slips, box cushions and altering curtains etc. We will consider someone who is part qualified or even an experienced self-taught professional.
